Who are we ?

You already heard about us – children must learn from early age on about tolerance and the meaning of accepting somebody else's choice or opinion, which is the reason why we demanded (and achieved) that the General Declaration on Human Rights is introduced into the education curriculum.

Public must know that young people are also able to give their opinions and possible solutions to the critical issues on both national and local, but also global level – this is why we organize many press conferences and present our views through the program for youth.

On Croatia's way to full membership of the EU and in these times of international exchange of communications, we give our contribution in creating a relationship of trust, as basic for positive changes through participation on various international meetings and events organized by young Liberals and sympathisers.

History

The encouragement of the liberal idea within and outside the borders of our country has started in 1992. Since then we have become and remained a recognizable option for many young people who are not afraid to stand behind their liberal opinion and tendency.

Organizational structure

The Young Croatian Liberals are an interest form of HSLS, acting completely independent within the Statute and Program of HSLS.

The highest, executive body of the YCL is the Presidency consisting of the President, four Vice-presidents, the Head secretary, the International secretary and the members of the Presidency. The Presidency is responsible for the activities performed, i.e. the coordination and implementation of the entire policy of the YCL , to the party Conference, as highest body of the YCL. At the YCL Conference that is held every second year, the Central Committee is elected that is in charge for activities and decision making on general importance in between the two Conference meetings, as well as the Supervising Committee that reviews the decisions by the bodies and branches of the YCL and their compliance with the Regulation s on activities, Rules of conduct and other acts of YCL.

Currently we are proud of our 14 county and over 80 city and municipal organizations – branches.

Goals…….

Why do we do what we do ?

Because we, as members of the YCL want to live in an active, civil society that is 100% tolerant, where the individual has all rights onto own choice, disregarding the colour of skin, age, nationality, political opinion, sexual orientation, religion….

Goals and principles of acting

The goals of the acting of YCL are:

•  Active care for the freedoms and rights of the youth and students through presentation and encouragement of the interests of the youth within the HSLS and the society in general;

•  Active care for the standard and social status of youth and students;

•  Participation in the activities of HSLS and active impact onto problems of interest for the youth;

•  Encouragement of all members to actively participate in the activities by HSLS;

•  Cooperation with student's, youth and non-governmental organizations in Croatia and abroad, cooperation with other organizations that act on the principles of equality and freedom of every individual, democracy, solidarity and liberalism;

•  Encouragement and support of creative and different life styles of the youth, support of the diversities of orientations in any way.

The principles of acting are:

•  Diversity of opinion, choice, thoughts and ideas;

•  Independence in performing the activities (within the Statute and Program of HSLS);

•  Publicity and dignity in each action;

•  Responsibility of the individual members and bodies of YCL in political and public activities;

The activities of YCL are focused onto reforms and problem solving, under direct participation of the people or groups that are impacted by such problems.

The major problem of our youth today is UNEMPLOYMENT, so YCL tries with own ideas and proposals to contribute to the solutions of this problem and other problems that are directly or indirectly linked to unemployment.
